Out and about....Kefar Sava

From Fashionistable
Although I did not blog while I was on holiday I still took pictures and heard peoples stories so I could share at least part of my holiday with you now. On my last trip to Israel a year and a half ago I found myself disappointed with the fashion I was seeing. I had been hoping that maybe it was because it was the winter and I can happily report that I was right. I have some lovely images to share with you from this trip. Starting with Hila, here in the lovely evening light. Hila is the manager of Topshop in a mall in a town just outside Tel Aviv called Kefar Sava. She has worked there for 7 months and likes it very much. Her style inspirations are the Haute Couture shows and Tokyo Lolita. She likes to travel and her favourite places are Asia and Spain. Surprisingly she said she can have dark thoughts, but you would never know from the outside. Her glasses are vintage from a market in Tel Aviv, top is Topshop, skirt from Missy and shoes (which I love) are from Renuar.

Muthoot Finance Ltd Dominant player

Muthoot Finance Ltd Dominant player

Largest gold financing company in the country

Muthoot Finance (Muthoot) is the largest gold financing company in India with a gross gold loan portfolio of Rs. 15.9bn as at March 2011 and a commanding market share (20% in FY10). Company’s AUM has witnessed a phenomenal 82% CAGR over the past four years driven by substantial network expansion, significant improvement in branch productivity, sustained rally in gold prices and strong brand recognition. Gold stock has increased from 23MT to 112MT over FY07-11 representing 49% CAGR. About 67% of the current ~2,900 branches are located in the southern region which contribute 74% to the gold loan portfolio.

AUM growth to moderate but balance sheet growth to be strong
We anticipate Muthoot’s AUM growth to slow down to a more normalized 37.5% pa over FY11-13 due to base effect, increasing penetration and competition in South (especially Kerala) and slower adoption of gold loan product in other regions. Further, if the gold rally were to halt, AUM growth would be purely volume driven. With limited incentive for assignments now, bulk of the incremental growth would be reflected on the balance sheet propping up the net loan CAGR to 57.5% over FY11-13. Business growth would be mainly driven by significant improvement in productivity of ~1,750 branches added in the past two years.

NIM to contract on sharp increase in funding cost
Notwithstanding the tailwind from IPO, Muthoot’s NIM is estimated to correct by 140bps in FY12 to 9.5% due to steep rise in the cost of funds. The cost of bank borrowings has increased by 150-200bps in recent months on account of lending rate hikes by banks and loss of PSL status for assignments. Any fresh retail secured NCD issuance by Muthoot would likely happen at elevated rates (11-12%) in-line with recent issuances by other NBFCs. The yield on loan portfolio is expected to remain firm during the year despite intensifying competition aided by the recent hike (100-150bps) in interest rate by the company.

RoA to marginally come-off; RoE to remain impressive though
Significant improvement in AUM/Branch (from Rs. 58mn to Rs. 80mn over FY11-13) and lower incremental marketing/promotion expenditure would drive some operating leverage. Resultantly, opex/average assets ratio is estimated to decline by 30bps over FY11-13 to 3.6% marginally cushioning the impact of NIM contraction on RoA. The recent IPO has augmented capital adequacy and reduced leverage. RoE, as a result, is likely to normalize to 30-35% from 51% in FY11. Considering the estimated robust earnings of 39% over FY11-13, we initiate coverage on Muthoot with a BUY rating and 9-month target of Rs. 202.

Elly is wearing a Topshop dress, Primark shoes and socks and is carrying a bag from a “cool vintage shop in Harlow”.

From Fashionistable
Sian Wren is studying for her GCSE’s at the moment. She was at the shows as one of her friends mums is a lecturer. She looks great and has wonderful poise for her age and wasn’t put off at all by her friends shouting at her from the side. I was very impressed. Sian told me her style influence is Marylin Monroe. Iconic indeed. Sian’s look for her trip to GFW comprises of Zara jacket, New Look top, she couldn’t remember where her trousers were from, shoes from Bank and a Louis Vitton Bag.

From Fashionistable
Yohanna Mamelqvist is originally from Sweden and works for Vauxhall Fashion Scout and was at GFW scouting this years up and coming talent. She describes her own personal style influence at the moment as 70’s relaxed. Her surprising thing for us is that she is a boxer and a pole dancer. Two fitness regimes which fit nicely together for her. Her jacket and boots are Acne, her dress and bag are Topshop.

Emily Arabadjian is originally Austrian with a Bulgarian background. She has spent her 1st year in the UK studying Photography and Video, her next 3 will be her degree in Fashion Journalism at Epsom. She also has her own blog you can check out here. Emily told me her style influences were many – punk since she has been in the UK, romantic, sporty, feminine, and edgy. A mix of everything really. She also mentioned Agnes Deyn and Olivia Palermo as style icons. I love her red, white and blue, it is put together with a New Yorker jacket, H&M T, jeans from Religion, shoes from Diesel and bag from ASOS.

From Fashionistable
Simi Fapohunda told me she was from the TheLabelLine.co.uk (site still under construction) which will be a platform for undergraduates and graduates to showcase their work.  When I asked her what her style influence was she told me that today she wanted to wear a hat and went on to shape the rest of her look around that.

From Fashionistable
Siobhan Perry rocks. She was leaving the shows when I caught up with her. I am so used to directing these days it is always a breath of fresh air when I find I have stopped a model and they just work it. She was first scouted when she was 15 but didn't start modeling properly until a year and a half ago. In 2008 she was the winner of the Ford UK supermodel competition. She is traveling quite a bit now and is loving it.

Out and about....ripped 1

From Fashionistable
It is the punk in me who likes ripped tights. Although I dont do it anymore I still see it as a fashion statement.  So today and tomorrow I have 2 examples I have shot recently. Originally from Kuala Lumpur Sabrina is studying art foundation at Chelsea. For her main degree she wants to stay at Chelsea and study textiles. I think her beautiful jacket is a fine example of her love of this discipline. Her favourite place in London is Soho and coffee shop Cafe 54. Her jacket is by Motel Rocks, top and shorts are from Topshop. Her necklaces were bought on visits to Egypt and Istanbul. Her bag is from Zara, the belt is vintage from Australia and her boots are from Primark.
